"Alternatives to Carbon Fiber" originally sought after for more flexible and tougher laminations, it also became clear this was a material that reduces the skin irritation of carbon fiber and reduces the health risks associated with breathing carbon fiber dust. In this extensive course, we will cover the history of prosthetic and orthotic manufacturing, the materials used, the alternatives now available, and the how to of laminating AFOs, and more flexible and comfortable prosthetic sockets.
This workshop is “StabileFlex Transtibial Socket." This presentation contains a brief history of prosthetic suspension systems and prosthetic socket designs. The StabileFlex Socket design is an evolution of Coyote Designs original RCR Socket. The original design was based on our airtight pin suspension system. We will cover our fiberglass pressurized casting system, measurement technique, plaster modification, test socket and definitive socket fabrication. The socket design has been modified from the original version for use with a pin lock, suction, or vacuum suspension systems.
This workshop is "AFO Casting and Fabrication Methods." The course contains a brief history of ankle foot orthotic systems, and techniques for three AFO designs, the Boise Brace “Bi-valve AFO”, Articulated Composite AFO, and Dynamic Strut AFO. We will cover procedures for these devices using rigid fiberglass cast tape, cast modification, and fabrication.

Quentin, or Dale as he is more commonly called, has been in orthotics and prosthetics for more than 40 years, first in patient care with his company Rehab Systems in Idaho, and then with Coyote Design. Over the years he has developed a number of methods and products designed to improve the fit and function and process of orthotics and prosthetics.
For years Coyote Design has taught many of these courses through out the United States and in many other countries around the world. We are now making them available online so more people have the opportunity to learn from them. If you are an American Board Certified Individual you can take these courses for continuing education credits.
This course can be done at your own pace by starting and stopping as you need to without losing your place. We hope you will find the information useful to you, your practice and patients
Once you’ve covered the on-line course and are ready to learn more, you can attend one of our hands-on workshops in Boise. Rather than watching our instructor fit a patient, you’ll be fitting them yourself and gaining a clinical and technical education that you can apply to your own practice. Transtibial and AFO workshops, as well as technical workshops will be available soon.

Our courses are approved for continuing education credits from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics, Inc. (ABC), Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC) and BOC Board of Certification/Accreditation.
