(easy off, vacuum compatible)
Patents pending
The EOVC Lock is very similar to the Air-Lock and Suction Lock in that it stays airtight helping to create “suction” in the socket. The advantage of the EOVC is the design allows it to be used with elevated vacuum. Its unique lever design also helps make doffing of the socket easy, especially for amputees with hand strength issues, arthritis, or trouble reaching the release button.

Benefits of the EOVC Lock
- Easy Donning
- Easy removal with lever release
- Reduced wear of self lubricating materials
- Water resistant construction
- Can be used with elevated vacuum
- Airtight “suction” suspension if not used with a vacuum
Lever is closed, lock is locked (top)
Lever is open, lock is unlocked (bottom)

Fabrication

The EOVC Lock has the same distal end as our Air-Lock. This allows the Alignable Connector and inserts to be used in fabrication in the same fashion, allowing for offset alignment in a single lamination. For more on fabrication visit the Technical Assistance page If using elevated vacuum, the ability to offset the connector from the lock is very limited in the test socket phase. The socket should be fabricated with the connector centered on the lock to avoid an undercut that may not pull in.During the lamination a thin layer of vivac should be pulled over the lock and mold first. After it is set, cut and remove the plastic around the bottom of the lock and seal the edge with silicone. At this point you are ready to laminate. Watch more on the fabrication of the EOVC. (coming soon) Fabrication Note: each lock includes a foam dot for fabrication, do not use the dot for fabrication if you are fabricating a socket to be used with elevated vacuum.

Casting Handle
Our new casting handles speed up casting and fabrication and prevent the lock from being fabricated in the wrong position. The liner of choice is rolled onto the patient, and the casting pin is installed. The handle is then slid onto the pin for a better look at the line of progression of the lock on both planes. The handle is casted in. Once the mold is removed, the fabrication anchor can be installed, and the cast filled. This ensure the lock is in the desired location. Click here to watch the Casting Handle in action. (transfers to tech assistance page) Go to the ordering/info page for part ordering information on the Casting Handle and Casting Pin. The Suction Lock and the EOVC Lock use the same casting handle, CD316.

Distal Cushions

The distal cushions are designed to be a soft interface between the lock and liner of choice ensuring an intimate fit. Ideally the distal cushion should be casted in. We recommend the Memory Foam Distal Cushion be used with the EOVC. It is a one size fits all cushion that works with any liner.
